Memorial Day weekend.
I had drill on Saturday and Sunday nights. I'm now at the post locator, which means I'm running the switchboard. Since it's the weekend, I get more deployed soldiers calling than business calls, which is just fine by me. The best part? Jeremy called on Saturday and so I was able to talk to him for a little bit. Although I didn't know it was him at first, only hearing heavy breathing on the other end. I almost hung up but something told me to stick this phone call out. It was really good to hear his voice and makes me miss him that much more.
Yesterday, I went with Jaime, Lucas, Mary Jo, and JJ to King's Island. Lucas did really well on the kiddie rides until the stupid fox ride that jolted him around the bends. He completely freaked out and wouldn't go on another ride after that. I watched him so Jaime could go on a couple rides, everyone needs a break once in awhile. She and JJ went on the water ride and Mary Jo shot them with the water cannon. Lucas thought it was hilarious and let out a squeel and clapped. He was fascinated with the roller coasters and thought blowing blue ice cream everyone was funny. Sometimes he's too much...well, usually.

St. Louis
We decided to take a mini-trip to St. Louis for our anniversary. A few people have asked why St. Louis, what's there to do there? I know, it sounds like a random destination, but it was a great trip, and this is why we went: it's not that far away and at $4/gallon for gas, we needed something that wasn't too far. After I started looking into it, it seemed like a great place to go, and I was right. We did a lot in the few days that we were there; we went to the arch (it was my first time in St. Louis so the arch was pretty neat, we took a tram to the top), the zoo (the monkey exhibit of course was our favorite), the science center (this amazing place to learn science hands-on), a history museum, a soldier's memorial museum, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery (which was much larger than I thought and offered 2 complimentary glasses of beer at the end), and the City Museum (which is this crazy giant playground of a place & hard to explain exactly what it is). It seems like we did a lot in just a few days but actually nothing was rushed and we really had a relaxing time. I also couldn't believe how many places were free. It was a very affordable trip!
I have drill this weekend. It's my first weekend working at the post locator/switchboard desk. I'm a little nervous since I'm used to working in a shop on drill weekends, but I'm glad I'm out of the shop at the same time. I think it will be alright. It's second shift, so it's also much different not getting up really early to go to drill. So that's my big plans for the weekend. I'm going to King's Island with Jaime on Monday. Should be fun. I'm sure Michael will be spending the majority of this gorgeous weekend on the bike.

One-Year Anniversary
Michael and I had our one-year anniversary yesterday. I can't believe how quickly time passes. It made me think about all the things we have experienced this past year; the wedding and honeymoon, vacations to Myrtle Beach and Orlando, Alex's basic training graduation, Michael starting school, me finishing another year of school, not to mention so many other things.
I want a way to record all these memories and to share them with friends and family. I enjoy reading other blogs and catching up in a time when it seems there is never enough. So, here is our blog, just us. Our way to capture the moments and memories in our life and share them with you.
