Nate & Sammy

Everyone always asks how the dogs get along with the baby. So far, they don't pay him much attention. They smell him every once in awhile, but for the most part, they don't really seem bothered by his cries, at least not as much as he's bothered by their bark. Last night I was sitting in the chair and Nate was playing on the floor gym. Sammy and I were playing catch with the rope. She would bring me the rope and I would throw it in the other room. I'm not sure if she got tired of playing with me, or just wanted to give Nate a chance to play, but I threw the rope and instead of bringing it back to me, she laid it down on the floor by Nate and then sat there waiting for him to throw it back. How do you explain to a dog that he's a baby and just not old enough to play with you yet?
